Vrinda was married to a demon named Jalandhar, who derived his power from her unwavering devotion and chastity. Jalandhar's invincibility was based on the fact that his wife, Vrinda, remained pure and faithful. This made him nearly unbeatable in battles.
However, the gods sought to end Jalandhar's reign of terror and approached Lord Vishnu for help. Vishnu, in disguise, appeared before Vrinda in the form of her husband Jalandhar and tricked her, breaking her chastity unknowingly. As a consequence, Jalandhar lost his powers and was ultimately defeated by the gods.
Devastated by this deceit and the loss of her husband, Vrinda cursed Lord Vishnu to turn into a stone. To absolve himself of this curse, Vishnu requested forgiveness from Vrinda. As a resolution to her curse, Vishnu promised to marry her in her next birth.
In due course, Vrinda was reborn as the sacred Tulsi plant. Lord Vishnu kept his word and married Tulsi, thus fulfilling his promise. The ceremonial marriage between Tulsi and Vishnu became known as Tulsi Vivah, symbolizing the union of the divine couple and signifying the beginning of the wedding season in Hindu culture.
