Hindu mythology gives us several explanations for why we celebrate Mahasivaratri. Mahashivratri is celebrated annually to commemorate the union of Shiva and Parvati, who are thought to have tied the knot on this day.

For women, this is a very important day as they do the traditional Maha Shivaratri Puja, which includes incense sticks, water, milk, betel leaves, and fruits like jujube or ber.
